What happened to Edge T_T?

why did edge retire?..after i heard he retired,i cried the whole afternoon and even screamed WHY?!,WHY?!!.what happened to him?,i mean..he's the best of the best and he had to go?..T_T..why? i couldn't think that that alberto something's arm breaker could be the reason...could it?(P.S. i'm blasting edge's theme song all over the house and the neighbors find the song awesome,lol)
