Is it reasonable for me to want to change my last name because i no longer speak to my estranged father?

I no longer speak to my father. Too much has happened between us and he has done a lot of wrong to my family. I no longer wish to be ociated with him in any way what so ever. So I want to change my last name. And while I'm at it I thought I would break from the italian stereotype as well and not take my moms last name either. My grandmother isn't italian so I was thinking of just taking her last name. this would be a drastic change though because I'd be going from Antidormi (very italian) to Moore (very simple) Thoughts?
